Our Design Process

Introductory Phone Conversation 

The renovation process begins with an initial consultation covering the general scope of the project. We will talk about your dream interior space, budget, and desired timeline. We will schedule an in-home consultation meeting for face-to-face planning with one of the best bathroom and kitchen designers near you around the Philadelphia Main Line.

In-Home Consultation Meeting

The in-home meeting is an opportunity for an in-depth consultation and a tour of your home to assess the spaces you want to improve. We will take photos and videos and note specific features, pathways, structural elements, and other details to assist in planning and design.

We will ask questions to better understand your needs, and you can ask questions to gain clarity on the process and how the best bathroom and kitchen designers near you will bring your vision to life.

Budget & Guidance

Near the end of the in-home meeting, we will provide an estimated price range for the project, before preparing a Design Fee Agreement.

Designer Fee Agreement

If you decide to proceed, we will provide you with a Designer Fee Agreement to sign. The cost will depend on the scope of the project. The designer fee is fully deductible from the final cost of the project.

Initial Design Review

Once we receive your signed agreement, we will schedule a time to meet you at our showroom to cover preliminary plans, 3D design renderings, and initial drawings.

We will review the scope of work, including all tasks to be completed. This process is detailed so you know exactly which services will be included.

Selections and Design Revisions

During the design review process, you will select materials including cabinetry styles and finishes, countertops, plumbing fixtures, hardware, flooring, and more. You aren’t locked into these choices at this point. We can revisit selections at a later date to optimize your budget and the aesthetic.

We will update the drawings and pricing as the revisions evolve.

Project Manager, Engineer, Architect & Trades Home Visit

We will schedule professional inspections by our tradespeople, our in-house project manager, and etc. to review the spaces related to your project. This aids us in the final proposal and approval process.

Proposal Review and Approval

We present a full set of drawings, a scope of work, itemized product and material selections, and a contract for your approval. This occurs as soon as engineering and architectural workups are complete, and after the design/layout proposal is finalized by expert kitchen designers near you.

The proposal includes some vital information:

• Estimated start date.

• Payment terms.

• Decorative selections/products that are included by Hunter Kitchen & Bath

• Total job cost, using a “fixed cost” pricing structure, not a “time and materials” price.

After you approve the proposal and make the first deposit, we will begin the permit application process, take final measurements, help you finalize your product selections, prepare job site paperwork (drawings, specifications, a schedule of the trades, etc.), and order materials for the build.

Permitting, Planning & Pre-Construction

If permits are required, we will post them at the job site. As the start date nears, we will review the completion time frame, finalize the dates, and answer any questions you might have. We will ensure that our teams understand your requirements regarding vehicle parking, work hours, preferred entrances, etc.

We will arrange for a dumpster to be delivered for construction waste before the renovation begins.

Construction

Once construction begins, there will be some disruption of your daily routines. Noise is a major concern for most homeowners. We strive to minimize noise and other inconveniences. We manage dust and keep worksites clean. Your project manager will be in contact frequently during construction, ensuring that you are updated on progress.

We will communicate upcoming payments in advance to help you stay up to date.

Project Wrap-Up

There’s nothing more satisfying than the final walkthrough of your new bathroom, kitchen, or other interior space. Just before this, we will meet with you to review the final tasks. This is called a punch list. Once completed, we will release the completed rooms for you to enjoy.

Warranty and Assistance

At completion, we will provide a renovation packet with information like care documents for fixtures, hardware, and surfaces. We also provide applicable warranties and help orient you with new fixtures, features, and appliances.
